Presentations

Here are a set of my regular presentations, in case you would like for me to make a presentation for you. I am also happy to develop presentations that are specifically designed to meet your unique needs. Please make your requests to me at yvissing@gmail.com, where we can discuss fees and contractual relationships.

CHILD ABUSE AND MENTAL ILLNESS

What is the relationship between mental illness and child abuse – both as causes and effects? This relationship is explored in great detail, incorporating theories, research methodologies, and data. This cutting-edge presentation will examine how genetics, social learning, development, and parent/caregiver behavior can both cause, and mitigate the effects of abuse on children.

H0MELESSNESS: WHAT CAN COMMUNITIES DO?

Homelessness has become a national problem. Yet it doesn’t have to be. The way we are addressing it as a society doesn’t work well for anyone. There are many different alternatives. Learn what they are in this thought-provoking presentation.

WHAT DO TELL OUR CHILDREN ABOUT SANTA CLAUS?

Parents regularly ask – should I let me children believe in Santa Claus or not? This presentation answers that question with plenty of care and reasoning to make you, and them, happy that you came to this presentation! It will ensure not just a happy holiday, but a happier set of life-long memories and relationships for you and your children to enjoy.

SEXUAL DEBUT

Talking to children about sex is a very uncomfortable topic for many adults. However, at some point everyone gets sexually aware and involved. This presentation addresses when, how, and why to have “the talk”. Helping empower children to have a greater awareness of sex can reduce rape, unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases. In this presentation, Dr. Vissing discusses the importance of empowering young people with knowledge of the who, what, where, why and how dimensions of sexual contact.

CHILDREN’S RIGHTS, PARENT’S RIGHTS, WHOSE RIGHT?

All of the countries in the United Nations have ratified a child rights treaty except one – the USA. Why? What would happen if children’s rights were honored? Would the lives of children separated and detained at the border be different? Would there be less child abuse? On the other hand, some parents feel they can’t control children if the know they have rights. This balanced presentation will help participants to wrestle with the issues of how to help create respectful children.

Divorcing The Devil

Going through a divorce is very hard for most people. Divorces can get nasty, mean, as people say and do things that under-cut the other. Most people blame their partner – after all, if their partner was negotiable, they may not ever gotten divorced. So what can we do if we are divorcing a Devil to turn our lives around so we can find happiness? This is what participants will find out in this presentation.

BUSINESS & HIGHER EDUCATION AS DOMESTIC VIOLENCE RELATIONSHIPS

We work hard. We come in early, stay late, work evenings and weekends, and take on extra responsibilities. For what? Often, we find our extra effort doesn’t matter at all to our getting respect, that promotion, the better office, or a raise. What’s going on at places of employment that ostensibly ought to be nice and civil places to work but end up being soul-sucking and making it so we can’t wait to get out of there? That’s what we’ll discuss here!
